If You Use WordPress.com, Beware!

I just read on Soren Jordansen’s blog that if you own a WordPress.com blog, beware! Apparently WordPress.com as well as Blogger are cracking down on bloggers who are trying to use their blogs for commercial purposes, including:
“…content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites…” Source: WordPress.com TOS
“Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs…” Source: WordPress.com Types of Blogs
Now, before I start getting all kinds of questions about what those terms of service mean, I don’t have any blogs on either Wordpress.com or Blogger. You’ll have to ask them specifically about your particular situation.
Soren blew this information off because he doesn’t have any hosted blogs with either of these companies, so he didn’t think anything about it. Then he started getting frantic emails from people who actually had their blogs removed, for violating the TOS at these services. So, they are taking a heavy hand, and you should beware if you are using their services.
(Darn! Now I need to update my ebook How To Blog For CA$H! to reflect this new development!)
However, there is a new solution to this problem, and it is still free. Mike Paetzold of 15 Minute Blog Traffic is a real blogging expert. Not only does he run several successful blogs in many different niches, but he’s also an Internet Marketer and understands what we need for our blogs.
Well, just recently Mike released a new service called MyCCBlog. If you are looking for a free way to get a blog going then MyCCBlog may be the best solution for you.
Because Mike understands the needs of Internet Marketers, he created MyCCBlog to be Internet Marketer friendly. With the click of a button you get a WordPress blog that is SEO friendly, customizable (to a point), and allows marketing (within the TOS).
The disadvantage to using MyCCBlog as opposed to hosting your own WordPress blogs are:
- You don’t get to use your own domain name. Your blog name will be username.myccblog.com.
- You have a limited number of themes and plugins available. Though MyCCBlog comes with over 60 themes, and the SEO All-in-One and Sociable Plugins, you can’t add just any plugin you desire.
- You can’t customize your blog the way you want to, you’re stuck within the limits of the system.
However, if those don’t matter to you, then I suggest you check out MyCCBlog today and get yourself a great SEO friendly blog that you can use to start marketing immediately.
