Are You Blogging Yet?

If you’re not already blogging you should start now.
Blogging is a powerful way to generate free traffic to your site.
Search engines love fresh and new content and blogs provide them with the food they want!
You’ll often see blog posts at the top of searches for keywords. You can take advantage of this by starting your own blog (or blogs) and generate lots of new free traffic. You can then funnel all that new traffic to your main website.
It’s easy to get started blogging immediately. You can use free blogging services such as Blogger (good) or Wordpress.com
(the best) to create your new blog. They’re both easy to learn and use, and they’re feature-rich and customizable (to an extent).
You can host your blog on their servers, but I recommend you register your own domain and host your blog yourself.
There are two major reasons for you to host your own blog:
- Your url will look more professional and credible.
- Even more importantly many blogs that are hosted on free services like Blogger sometimes disappear without warning or reason. It’s happened to many a blogger, and you don’t want to take the chance of losing all your hard work.
If you use Blogger, your domain will look like this: yourwebsite.blogspot.com
In Wordpress it will look like: yourwebsite.wordpress.com
But if you host it yourself it will simply be: yourwebsite.com or yourwebsite.com/blogname like mine, http://www.StayHomeDads.com/news
That’s much easier to remember and much more credible to your readers.
Once you get your blog up and running you can monetize it in many different ways.

Great advice, Charles!
I’ve been able to get Tellman Knudson’s blog to the top of all three search engines at the same time using just a bit of SEO common sense. WordPress on your own server is definitely the best way to go.
